Pulaski Memorial Hospital joins Donate Life Indiana in celebrating National Donate Life Month to raise awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation, honor donors and donor families, and encourage community members to register as donors.
In Indiana, more than 1,000 Hoosiers are among more than 100,000 Americans waiting for lifesaving organ transplants. In the U.S., a new person is added to the transplant waiting list every eight minutes. And every day, seventeen people die while waiting for an organ transplant. Other facts include:
In 2025, more than 49,000 organ transplants from 23,788 donors brought new life to patients and families.
More than 170 million people are registered organ, eye, and tissue donors.
More than 2,200 children under 18 remain on the national transplant waiting list; 1,874 children were saved by donors and donor families in 2025.
60% of organ, eye, and tissue donors are authorized by donor registration.
More than 85,900 corneal transplants have helped restore sight.
You can save eight lives through organ donation and heal seventy-five lives through tissue donation.
86% of patients on waiting lists need a kidney.
Anyone can register as a donor – don’t rule yourself out due to age or medical conditions.
“Donation saves and heals lives,” says Linda Webb, the Chief Nursing Officer at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. “Every registered donor is a lifeline – one decision today can restore sight, renew health, and create countless tomorrows for others. PMH is committed to educating the community and supporting those considering donation,” says Webb.
