At its Spring Conference on April 25th, Linda Powers, RN, Med/Surg Clinical Leader, was awarded the Indiana Organization for Nurse Leadership (IONL) Midwestern District DAISY Award.
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Pat’s family experienced firsthand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care. The family created The DAISY Award to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their exceptional nurses. Please visit DAISYFoundation.org to learn more about Pat’s story and how The DAISY Award recognizes Extraordinary Nurses.
Linda, who has been with Pulaski Memorial for more than fourteen years, plays a critical part in the care of patients admitted to the Hospital. In addition to assisting in patient care, her role as Clinical Lead often requires her to liaise between our nursing and medical staff, providing guidance and support to both groups and coordinating care with other departments in the Hospital.
The criteria for the award are based on IONL’s Strategic Pillars of:
Leadership: Influence and advancement of the profession
Education: Provide educational resources, professional development, and mentorship to advance knowledge and skills
Advocacy: Supporting nursing objectives at organizational, local, state, and national level at all care levels
Diversity: Demonstrating respect for the differences among nurses which includes practices setting, role, level of leadership, race, ethnicity, creed in support of the need for belonging
Ethics:Cultivating and acting within the professional code of moral and practice standards
Relationships: Convening to create networking opportunities, best practice sharing, and friendships among nurses
We want to congratulate and applaud Linda on this prestigious award and to show our gratitude for all the good work she does caring for our patients.
